10 years of KNARR by Pedrotti

The German-Italian partnership celebrates its anniversary

The official confirmation from the management was revealed in 2012 at the former leading trade fair EUROMOLD: Mrs. Paola Pedrotti and Mr. Rainer Knarr announced the exclusive cooperation for mould bases and single plates from January 2013. The German-Italian partnership between KNARR and Pedrotti was born and is now celebrating its 10th anniversary.

Long-term cooperation

“The search for a reliable partner who meets our quality requirements proved to be quite a challenge. With Pedrotti we found an ideal solution. The companies are similar in their philosophy and quality approach. We discovered early on that Pedrotti meets the highest standards. This includes, for example, the stress-relief annealing of the plates during the manufacturing process,” as Rainer Knarr recalls the beginnings. During mutual visits to the locations in Gavardo in northern Italy and Helmbrechts in northern Bavaria, they were able to convince themselves of each other’s capabilities. Since then, a steadily growing number of European mould makers have benefited from the partnership. “Similar to our standard moulds, we also wanted to establish ourselves on the market with our range of mould plates and bases – of course, this does not happen overnight. Hence, the cooperation has always been long-term,” the managing director explains further.

Continuously expanded range of mould bases

Starting with a total of seven selected mould sizes and the materials 1.1730 and Toolox 33, the standard range has been successively developed and expanded over the course of the partnership. In the meantime, the KNARR plates portfolio comprises almost 40 different mould sizes – and even in two different pitch distances (System F & System K). In addition to the significantly expanded range of sizes, materials commonly used in mould making such as 1.2312, 1.2085, 1.2343 or 1.2767 are now also available directly from stock.

Mould bases, also machined

A state-of-the-art machine park including all production technologies combined with decades of know-how enables KNARR to further process the plates. Regardless of whether it is pre-milling or complete finish machining – at the Helmbrechts and Laichingen locations, plates are made according to customer specifications. As an “extended workbench”, KNARR does not only come into play when there are capacity bottlenecks. After all, the manufacturing options allow plate processing up to 1,500 x 2,000 x 500 mm with a maximum workpiece weight of 5,000 kg. Deep-hole drilling is possible in-house at 1,250 mm drilling depth up to Ø30 mm.

Partner at eye level

For more than a decade now, KNARR and Pedrotti have been pursuing a common path and are constantly working on further optimisations. “Both Pedrotti and we are family businesses with naturally grown structures. Both know the requirements of the market, are adaptable and can react flexibly. Both respect and trust each other – even in economically challenging times. That’s a big plus,” says Managing Director Rainer Knarr, pointing out the basics of joint success. The firmly anchored quality concept of the two ISO-certified companies is in any case irrefutable for all the main players.
